Annosus Root Rot is a destructive fungal disease caused by Heterobasidion species, most commonly Heterobasidion annosum. The disease attacks the roots and lower trunk of trees, causing internal decay that weakens structural stability and reduces a tree's ability to absorb water and nutrients.
Although Annosus Root Rot is more commonly associated with pine forests and conifer plantations, it can affect a variety of tree species and may be found in parts of Texas where susceptible hosts are present.
